Gemini CLI + AionUi

AionUi ships with Gemini CLI support out of the box. You get a full desktop cowork experience: multiple chats, history in local SQLite, and instant preview for files Gemini helps you create.

Why use a GUI with Gemini CLI?

  • Session memory – Conversations persist per project instead of disappearing when the terminal closes.
  • Parallel work – Open several Gemini sessions for different tasks.
  • Preview – Open PDF, Markdown, code, Excel, and more in the preview panel.
  • Privacy posture – Chat history stays on your machine; see local AI security.

Quick setup

  1. Download AionUi for your OS.
  2. Complete Quick Start and sign in or add a Gemini API key in LLM configuration.
  3. Optional: enable multi-agent to run Gemini next to Claude Code or other CLIs.

Operational tips

Gemini quotas and model availability change with your Google account tier. If responses suddenly fail, check billing, API enablement, and regional restrictions in Google Cloud. For offline or air-gapped work, pair AionUi with a local backend instead of Gemini for that session.

Image-heavy workflows should follow image generation setup so the correct vision/image models are selected.
